History

Blueprint for change started out as a conversation, went on to become an idea and is now so much more for everyone involved. It isn’t a concept, it is a way of life.

B4C wants to revolutionise the way we think, deal and communicate with each other, despite age, gender and sexuality. It is about helping those who need it most, and convincing those who ‘have’ to help the ‘have nots’. It is about bringing a community together and dealing with a wide range of issues from lack of motivation right through to lack of money being invested into communities.

The B4C vision is one of making London, the country and even the world a better place, with the help of volunteers from all walks of life who all believe that it is possible.

We, the team, know that it isn’t going to be easy, but with passion, determination and a little bit of luck, we know that nothing can stop us.

The negative statistics rise every year: knife and gun crime, drug and alcohol abuse, youth unemployment, depression, suicides and more.  It seems impossible to believe that nothing coherent is being done about it, but the remedies are mainly disconnected, under-funded and low on the list of our priorities.

We want to write a blueprint for change, we want to change how we view certain groups in society, particularly our perceptions of young people. We aim to be able to encourage people in power, the decision makers of this country, to work more closely with our young people. We want to make sure that the future generations can grow up in society that is not dysfunctional, degenerating and demotivating. Currently, a vast majority of adults look down on our young people and believe them to be chaos-causing, drug taking and unmotivated. This, in turn, has led many more young people to become unmotivated and misunderstood – where they are growing up to believe that their opinions do not count and will not be listened to. How can we change that, how can we break down these barriers? Well, that is what B4C is and trying to solve.

Some of the points we most want to address include:

  • To find out why some young people are de-motivated and without belief in themselves and find ways to change this socially disruptive and costly problem.
  • To create partnerships between young people and adult decision-makers and persuade our politicians to listen to youth views, so that they are not working against each other, but with each other.
  • To change the negative stereotyping of young people by promoting their positive achievements and giving them a voice in the society they will eventually help to run.
  • To work with everyone who cares:  young people, parents, communities, schools, youth clubs and organisations, politicians, the media.
  • To create a nationwide initiative that turns financial losses into gains and encourages young people to play a positive role in their communities and society as a whole.

Whatever your age, concerns and interests, we hope that this introduction to Blueprint for Change excites and inspires you. We need support, suggestions and involvement from as many people, in as many different occupations as possible. If you agree with our principles, then we encourage you to take a look around the website and join us, everyone is welcome.
